Seeds and vivarium
In the seeds division of Oleoflores we are dedicated to the research, sowing of genetic material, production, germination and commercialization of Dami Las Flores palm seeds ( Elaeis guineensis ).
Dami las Flores seeds not only encourage the planting of the palm crop, but also offer a social and economic life change for many of our customers under the model of productive alliances with small and medium farmers.
We produce the cultivar Dami las Flores from crosses of Elaeis guineensis Dura Deli (D) and E. guineensis Pisifera Avros (P) palms, resulting in Tenera D x P type palms.
The Dami Las Flores cultivar has been produced in the municipality of Agustín Codazzi, Cesar, Colombia since 1994 and is distributed nationally and exported to oil palm growing countries in the Americas.
Currently, we have four mother palm gardens dedicated to seed production and two more in the registration stage.
The production capacity of germinated seeds is 1,400,000 per year
Similarly, Pisifera pollen, which is used to pollinate hard palms, is imported from Papua New Guinea (Dami Station) and is responsible for transmitting a high mesocarp content (high oil extraction rates) and little kernel because the fruits lack kernels and only in some cases present a slight ring of fibers in the center of the fruit. Generally, Pisifera fruits lack kernels.
As a result of crossing these two varieties (Dura and Pisifera) a seed is obtained that is known as Tenera, which has characteristics inherited from its two parents.
Desirable agronomic characteristics of the cultivar Dami las Flores for palm oil production:
Germination - 0 to 24 months
From germination to 24 months, we take care of the proper growth in nurseries and then pass them on to the producing crops.
